Butterfly/Pink Ribbon Tattoo
Friday, September 25, 2009
I went with Becky M. and Amanda today to Liquid Tattoo and got a tattoo. Big Steve gave me a
Butterfly: because when I was little my mom called me "her little butterfly" and also I like that the butterfly represents transformation/metemorphis because our lives are always changing and I am personally committed to improving my soul into a beautiful butterfly.
Pink Ribbon: is for Breast Cancer.
The words "Survivor 2-05" : to signify that I am a breast cancer survivor diagnosis in Feb. 2005
Pepsi: is because I love it so much.
I put the tattoo on my left thigh because I had cancer in my left breast and I wanted to mark my body on my own terms not on cancer's terms. I had cancer but cancer doesn't have me.

Big D's SOFA Art Project
Thursday, September 17th, 2009
My very talented and creative husband designed a blacksmith black iron project for the SOFA Convention in Ohio. He titled it Bird Brain. I love it!
http://www.sofablacksmiths.org says....
Southern Ohio Forge and Anvil (SOFA), an affiliate of ABANA, is a nonprofit organization that was formed in 1977. Its founders, Emmert Studebaker, Larry Wood, and Bob Zeller were inspired by ABANA and former Ohio Artists Blacksmith Association to create an organization to preserve and promote the art of blacksmithing. Informational and educational activities include workshops, demonstrations, and communications. We have a large library of videotaped demonstrations, newsletters, and various blacksmith publications.

Little D's first day of First Grade
Tuesday, September 8th, 2009
With her Ni Hao Kai-lan (a cartoon on Nickelodeon) back pack in tow little D headed off for 1st grade today. Since the first day of school is always scary daddy picked flowers for her to put in her little purse that was attached to her back pack. He instructed her to take them out and look at them when she felt sad or scared . These particular flowers are special because she planted them while in Kindergarten then transfered them into our front yard and they grew like wildfire. Little D searched for a new desk to sit occupy in Mrs. Ramirez Class. She decided to sit next to Daniela. Daniela has been in her class since preschool so they know each other really well. I personally believe this was an awesome choice! Daniela is a sweat, nice, well mannered little girl. Before Mrs. Rameriz took attendance and lunch choice little D told me to let the teacher know that she wanted cold and hot lunch. Wow... what a hungry young lady. Little D had a very successful first day and was thrilled to be in first grade.
