Lansing 150 Capitol Moves

Little C and I attended Lansing's 150 birthday bash on the Capitol Lawn today. We ran into many people that we knew. We were also able to see some of our very own Pleasant View Magnets school student perform in a dance number.

Lansing 150 Capitol Moves
Sunday August 2, 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm on the Capitol Lawn

In celebration of Lansing’s 150th birthday, we would like to invite you to a summer picnic event on the Capitol lawn.

Several free activities will be available for children of all ages. The Capitol Building will be open to the public. There will be a merry-go-round, story teller, arts & crafts, face painting and inflatable bounce house and obstacle course. There will be performances and demonstrations by Zumba, B-Boys Club of MSU, Boomers, Happendance, Nokomis American Indians, Capoeira and a Ballroom dance exhibition and lessons by Our Dance Studio of Grand Ledge. You can learn how to make Native American bracelets with Nokomis or have fun with the Impression 5 “Science on Wheels.” Finish the day enjoying the music of the Lansing Symphony Big Band.

Bring a picnic lunch and a blanket or lawn chair and join us in music, dance and movement, or just sit back and enjoy the show.

This birthday celebration will also include free birthday cake and ice cream! Local food vendors such as Turkey Man, L&L Smoke House and Melting Moments can supplement your picnic fare. The Downtown YMCA will kick off the day with a 5K Run/Walk to raise funds for the Open Arms Annual Campaign for Kids & Families. Lansing 150 Capitol Moves is proud to be sponsored by Jackson National Life and Emergent Bio Solutions.
