Good Days

Friday, September 26th, 2008
Little D said the funniest thing today. She said "my mom taught me that
poop makes food". At first I didn't understand where she got that from but then Z said something about fertilizer. Then I remember that one day when we were driving to St. Johns to get Z the cows smelled stronger than usual. I explained to her how cows manure is used to fertilize the farm and helps food like corn to grow. I guess she really does listen. :) When we used to live in the country we would just call them "stinky cows".

I picked up Z from school today. As soon as he got in the car he was desperate for a drink. I usually bring a snack and something to drink for the kids when I pick them up from school. Especially Z because it is a longer drive home. When he realized I had a drink he said "Mom... u Rock and you always think of everything". That made me feel so AWESOME. It is nice to know that my teenager really does appreciate the little things I do. Thanks Z

Sunday, September 28th
I had an hair appointment today. I was super impressed with my three beautiful children because they stayed quite and very well behave during the 2 1/2 hour appointment.

Little D's School Open House

Wednesday, Sept. 18th, 2008
Litte D's School Open House

We enjoyed little D's open house. She was so excited to show us her school. She wanted us to meet the dance teacher first. Then, she really wanted us to see the computer room. She made a person out of shapes. The teacher showed us her kissing hand. It was nice to hear the expectations of the teachers.

My 40th Birthday Dinner

Sunday, Sept, 14th 2008

We celebrated my 40th birthday at Schulers Restaurant in Marshall MI. They have excellent food and a wonderful atmosphere. Luckily, my family did NOT put 40 candles on the cake. I think the place would have caught on fire. It was a GREAT time! Thanks for the special day.

Little D's school round up Rally

September 10th, 2008

Little D's school round up rally

LSJ.com article
Students, teachers, parents and community members in the Lansing School District showed off their school pride this evening at a district-wide rally held at Sexton High School.

The Round-Up Rally featured a parade of staff and students from district schools as well as games and activities at Sexton's Majdeski Stadium, 102 S. McPhearson Ave.

"It sets the tone for the school year with participation, with a lot of energy and with a lot of enthusiasm," said Superintendent T.C. Wallace Jr., who was among a number of school district and area officials who spoke at the annual event.

During the parade students and staff from each school marched along the track surrounding the football field, waving to crowd members while marching bands performed.

Following the parade, students were allowed to take to the field for a variety of games, including a dunk tank.

District officials estimated that about 3,000 people attended the event.

MOPS Assistant Table Leader

I am really excited for the M.O.P.S (Mothers of Preschoolers) year. I have decided to be an assistant table leader. We had a meeting on Saturday and was able to get my table assignment and information. I am at table "A" this year. See you ladies soon.

If you are a mom of young children look for MOPS in your area.

Z has a GF

Z told me over the weekend that he has a girlfriend and that he would take a bullet for her. Oh no... it is getting serious. :) He said his 3rd day of school was better than his 1st because he got a GF. She is in her Math Class. He also said that he enjoys his computer class because they could not get the CAD software running so he was able to play games instead.

Great Grandma S Visits

September 7th, 2008

We headed to Kalamazoo to visit with Great Grandma S (Papa's Mother) today. We had a picnic at Milham Park. It was a fun time by all. The kids had fun playing with their cousins in the river. I enjoyed my visit especially since I haven't seen GG S in 15 years. We are glad she could break away from Florida for a few days.

We also attempted a letterbox "Woods in the City" but we had to abandon the mission unsolved. We ran out of time and the hunt was fairly complicated. I hope to finish it at the next visit to Kzoo

Little D's first day of school

Little D's first day of school
September 1st, 2008

Little D appeared to adjust wonderfully when we dropped her off in her classroom today. Later that evening she had a mini break down. She said she was nervous and that her body can't handle it and she was scare and embarrased. It was so cute but heartbreaking at the same time. I think she was just a little overwhelmed and tired. Girls get emotional when they are tired. She said she had a friend at her seahorse table that has the same name as her brother. She also said she has three teachers. I met her teacher and the MSU student teacher and was confused about the 3rd. I later found out that it was another teacher that had spare time and decided to help out her class for a few weeks. When I asked her who she played with she said I don't know. :) then she said that her friend Daniella followed her around on the playground.
I was able to have one on one time with the teachers on the 3rd. It is nice to know she will get more attention in a smaller school. She will have extra specials then a regular public school. She will be doing art, PE, library, dance, and music. I believe the teacher said she will have a performance soon. We will find out in the Friday letters. I have decided to join the PTA. I plan on having a huge appearence in her education. I told the teachers that I plan on volunteering a lot. I am so glad that I can be there for my kids and support them almost 24-7. Next to my hubby, my kids are more important then anything in the world. Money does NOT equal success for our family. You can buy many things but I don't remember anything my parents bought me I only remember the times we spent together. Both my hubby and I wish we could figure out a way he could stay home with the kids too. Thanks sweetie for supporting our family and working hard. We know how much you miss us while you are at work. I appreciate your support in joining the PTA.

Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day Weekend
August 30th - September 1st, 2008

Sunday,
We went to Bills cabin on Silver Lake in Clare. On the way up we did a
letterbox. It was a urban box and the clues led to a scrapbook store in
Clair. Too bad the store was closed. Scrapin is one of my favorite
hobbies. I was exhausted when we arrived to the cabin because I needed
to take Benedryl for my allergies. :( The girls were very excited to get
into the water. We barely got in the door before they stripped and put on
their suits. I relaxed on the dock with Cheryl while they swam.
Big D and Bill went to a garage sale. Bill can't pass up a good deal. After
our swim the kids got out a sprinkler. We had ham, potatoes, and all the
fixin's for dinner and brownies for dessert. Then, we went out on the
pontoon for a boat ride. The girls went tubing for the first time. Little D
did a great job swimming in the middle of the lake with the other kids.
Little C really didn't like swimming in the middle but loved tubing. We put Enchanted in for the
gilrs to watch as the big boys went for a moonlite ride and fishing. I
spent some quit time journaling and it was delightful. We had a bonfire to
end the night.

Monday,

It was another glorius day. I went for a float on the paddle boat to sun
myself. There isn't anything better then the smell of a boat on the
lake, the feel of the radiant sun on my face, the gentle warm air, and total
piece and stillness. Only the growl of my tummy brought me back to
shore. Before we left to go home we tried to catch a wild kitten. He was
so cute we wanted to take him home. However, we didn't realize how
hard it would be to catch him. We had four adults running around digging
through log piles and we couldn't get him. I guess is wasn't meant to be. The
kitten reminded me of S'more. S'more was known as my cat and he ran away when
we moved. I was heart broken. He had a unique personality
and we loved each other very much. I am now growing closer to our cat
Valentine (aka: Sissy, Siss, Val) but she is a little snotty.
