July 4th Weekend

We had a very busy but great weekend.

Friday, we were invited to our friends hanger at the Owosso Community Airport. They were giving everyone plane rides. (Thanks Guys!!!) Dakota and Chey had their first airplane ride and I was able to fly a plane for the first time. Of coarse, it was only for a few minutes and I was pretty nervous. It was a good time by all. Good food and fun friends. After the BBQ at the airport we left to see the fireworks in St. Johns.

Saturday, we headed towards Bay City. We left with no agenda but to letterbox. I am really addicted to my new found hobby of letterboxing. We found two letterboxes in Bay City. Letterboxing is kind of like a scavenger hunt. www.letterboxing.org. One of the letterboxes was on a bike trail and the other in a state park. After our K13 Team found the letterboxes we went to Saginaw Bay for some beach fun. However, the beaches on the east side of the state don't compare to the west side. We were a little disappointed at the beach because we could not swim. The water was gross. It looked as though all the party boats at the sandbar spilled oil into the lake. After, the beach we drove to Point Gres and saw more fireworks. They really put on a good show.

Sunday, we went to Burchfield Park to swim. The girls were very disappointed that they couldn't swim in Lake Huron. We had a very enjoyable afternoon. We set up the tent and hung out on the beach. Then, we took the paddle boats out on the lake. We saw a huge fish and a turtle. Oh yeah, did I mention we searched for another letterbox. Smile This letterbox was very hard to get. We were ate up alive by mosquitos.
