Country Mill

It's pumpkin time again. We went to Country Mill in Charlotte to pick pumpkins today. We waited too long this year to pick pumpkins because there weren't very many left and the ones that were there were either smashed, too little, or too green. We managed to find five decent pumpkins for carving.

After picking our pumpkins we headed back towards the store but made a few stops on the way. We stopped at the pond to look at the beautiful scenery. The pond had a huge ugly catfish in it that caught our attention. Big D took an awesome picture of me and the kids on a bench next to the pond and while he was taking the picture I grabbed Z and planted a huge kiss on his lovely cheek. He replied " MoooooM.!!!!" and was so discussed. TEENAGERS...GEEZ! Then, we hit the apple orchard and picked a couple apples to enjoy during our walk. Little C was chowing on two different kinds of apples one for each hand.

Next Big D said she wanted to go to the corn patch (i.e. corn maze). She was getting confused between pumpkin patch and corn maze. We picked corn cobs up from the grown while searching our way through the maze. I like to save them and use them for decoration on my kitchen table and the girls saved them to feed to the goats. Z had other plans for the corn. He picked the kernels off the cob and tossed them at me. I think he was trying to get back at me for the kiss. Little D didn't have any success in finding the end of the maze so luckily, little C led us out. The corn maze ticket collector took a family picture at the end of the maze.

Finally, we paid for our pumpkins and bought the most delicious buttermilk donuts for our trip home. The pumpkin patch is my favorite family outing.
