Hearts at Home conference

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

I attended the 2009 Great Lakes Hearts at Home conference (Real Moms, Real Lives, and Real Stories) at the Amway Grand in Grand Rapids with a few MOPS friends this weekend.

http://www.hearts-at-home.org says.....
Hearts at Home is a Christ-centered organization that encourages, educates, and equips women in the profession of motherhood. Hearts offers various resources, including conferences, events, trade books, a website, an online newsletter, and a radio program to encourage mothers. The goal of all resources is to provide encouragement, personal growth opportunities, new ideas, fresh perspective, and renewed vision for the vital role of mother.

There were many talented speakers (Jill Savage, Kevin Lehman, Karen Ehman ) that spoke on an array of topics such as homeschooling, organizing, cooking, and discipline. The MOPS moms and I took the opportunity to refresh and rejuvinate ourselves by doing the workshops, relaxing in the hot tub, and dinning out for the evening. It was wonderful to have quality girl time that also uplifted your spirit to the joys of motherhood.

It was an added bonus that the Art Prize was also going on this weekend. I admired the many different artwork displays around town.

At ArtPrize, any artist—from established to emerging—has the chance to show work.
ArtPrize exists to reboot the conversation between artists and audiences on a grand scale.

I am planning to bring Big D and the kids to the event next year. I am looking forward to having more time to view and appreciate the art. Art Prize is a MUST see event.
