Fire Safety Day

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Today was fire safety day at little C's school. The Lansing fire department did an awesome job explaining how to use the equipment on the truck. Then, to our surprise, they activated a fire extinguisher. I have never actually seen a fire extinguisher be sprayed. The kids and myself were impressed. After the demonstration outside we went inside, the firemen had a few fire safety tips .

For example:

- don't be afraid of the firemen (he dressed up in his gear and explained how the gear, mask, microphone, and breathing noises could be scary)
- Get Out! he asked the kids "What if you forgot your favorite toy? Do you go back into the house?
- STOP DROP and ROLL
- Don't hide in your closet or under your bed because you can't hide from fire.
- Crawl out of the house and check to see if the door is warm before you open it.

I am very appreciative that the Lansing fire department took time out of their day to teach our children.
